Pencil Pleat or Eyelet Headed Curtains

Curtains and Roman blinds
Love the look of Roman blinds, but never thought you could sew them yourself? Ever been shocked by a quote for curtains?

Now you can learn to make your own Roman blind or curtains. With The Little Sewing Works you'll not only complete your own project, but you'll have the skills you need to make more curtains and Roman blinds in future.

Some sewing classes only teach you to make a sample, but with us you'll make a complete curtain or Roman blind, giving you a much better understanding. That's why our workshops get booked up so much in advance!

Classes are limited to 2 students, so you'll get personal attention
You'll leave with at least one finished curtain or blind.
You'll go home with detailed instructions so you can 'go solo' at home
Our
Use the lovely bespoke cutting table to make preparation easier.

Home-made cake and refreshments are included!
when & how much?
The workshop runs from 10.00am to 1pm on the second Sunday of the month and costs £65. This includes tuition plus the use of one of our sewing machines.

Whatshould you bring?
The cost of this sewing class doesn't include the fabric you'll need, or any blind-making kit. When we receive your payment, we'll send you an information sheet which guides you on how to measure up for your curtain or blind, and contains a helpful shopping list:

For curtains, the shopping list features fabric, lining, curtain header tape and thread.
For Roman blinds, it features fabric, lining, thread and where to source the Roman blind kit.
what skills do you need?
This course doesn't cover the basics, so ideally you'll have attended a Beginner course beforehand or you need to to be confident with a sewing machine, and able to cut accurately in a straight line.

what should you plan to make?
We recommend you choose to dress a small window, so you can complete the whole task - perhaps a cloakroom or kitchen window. If you choose to learn to make a curtain, you'll sew a standard gathered, headed, lined curtain. (The tab-top curtain in the photo above was completed in the second curtain workshop). We'll send you details of how to measure up, and what you'll need to bring, once your payment has been received.

"I highly recommend Leonie as a teacher. She strikes just the right balance between allowing you to get on with the project and gain confidence, and stepping in if you might be going on the wrong path or are looking a bit frustrated! It's also a truly relaxing place to be; just like a spa break, but with sewing instead."
In this workshop you will learn to make beautiful & professional curtains, to furnish your home with style! You'll be taught by making a small, pleated and lined sample curtain. We'll provide all the materials, and you'll learn all the tricks of the trade to ensure a neat finish.
