Introduction to Machine Sewing Part 2 - Make a Pencil Case

Class Duration : 2 Hours

If you have completed one of our Introduction to Machine Sewing Part 1 class, or have some sewing experience but feel a little rusty; then this is the class for you. We will familiarise you with the machine itself and teach you all the basic skills of machine sewing to give to the confidence to start simple projects on your own.

In this class you will cover the following techniques:

Thread up your machine
Wind on a bobbin
Understand stitch tension, length and width
Sew straight lines, corners and curves using a seam allowance
Cut from a pattern template
The art of pressing
Inserting a zip
During this two hour workshop you will use your new found skills to make your own pencil case , the pencil case will be fully lined and you will learn to insert a zip.

Materials: Materials are provided. The sewing pattern and instructions on how to make the pencil case will also be available for you so you can continue making more at home!

Please bring with you: A sewing machine and scissors will be allocated to you. We also recommend you bring with you, small tools such as pins, a tape measure, unpicker, needles, and thread snips.
