Have you learned all the sewing basics but are not interested in making your own clothes? Why not try to making clothes for your kids? Kids clothes are quick to make and don't use as much fabrics. Besides, they are very cute and you can win the hearts of your new little customers with ease.
You will learn how to read a pattern, cut out and sew your chosen garment, finish to a professional standard and add some personal touches to it. Our patterns are suitable for ages 1 x 3 years old, 3 to 8 years old & 9 to 12 years old.
Areas we also cover include:
- Discussing sizing
- Cutting fabric from our in-house pattern
- Sewing straight lines, curves and corners
- Finishing seams
- Reverse stitching
- Machine hemming
- Use of our overlockers
- Adding sleeves
Is this course right for me?
You should know how to thread and confidently use a sewing machine. Ideally you will have completed one or more of our beginners sewing course.
What do I need to bring?
you will need to bring along the following:
Dress fabric: (ideally suited to needle cord or denim)
1y to 3y - 1m of 115cm or 140cm wide fabric
3y to 8y - 1.5m of 115cm or 140cm wide fabric
8y to 12y - 2m of 115cm or 140cm wide fabric
- 2 x matching buttons
- matching cotton thread.
You can trace the pattern size required and will take it home after the lesson to create further garments.
Class participants must be able to thread a basic sewing machine or have attended one of our beginner sewing classes
