Our beginners sewing course is designed for people who have never used a sewing machine before or for those who need a good refresher after having been away from it for a long time. From the first steps of threading your machine to sewing your first garment. Over the 10 hour course you will be given step by step tuition learning all about your sewing machine, sewing a tote bag and finally sewing your own top.What you will learn: Introduce parts of your machineShow how to thread the machine and bobbinSew straight stitch and zig zag stitch/Look at thread tension and problemsLook at machine accessories, ie feet, needles, cleaning equipment etcSewing in a straight lineSewing and finishing seamsThe basics of bag makingMeasuring and choosing the right size for youAssembling a patternPattern MarkingCutting out the fabric according to the patternInserting a dart A simple pleat Seam techniquesApplying bias bindingWhat you will need:Sewing machine threaded and working (if you require to use one of our machines you will to advise us during booking as we have a limited amount of machines available)Sewing kit, thread, scissors etcFabric and notions for your bag and top pattern size and length - a detailed tick list will be sent to you once you have booked on the course with full details. We will gudie you and give oyu all the info when you book. Level: Beginner Duration: 10 hoursPlease note we try to calculate how long a workshop will be and plan to finish each garment in the allocated time but this isn't always possible, If you are unable to finish in the workshop time we will make sure you are confident with your garment to be finished at home.
